Essam Zakaria is A Cairo-born journalist, film critic and researcher. He wrote hundreds of articles about films for several Arabic publications. Zakaria is the author of ten books about Egyptian and foreign films. He also translated from English and German dozens of articles, as well as several novels and books about cinema. He was a jury member in several local and international film festivals. He was the Editor-in-chief of Nazra Magazine, and also worked as an instructor at the film department of the American University in Cairo (AUC), supervisor for Jesuit Film School in Alexandria.
